ABOUT US |
Look Ma Media is a multi-faceted media
production company geared toward elevating
the art of story telling to a new level. Created
in January 2005, Look Ma Media aspires to
produce thought provoking and original
entertainment suitable for different segments
of the family market. Whether we’re producing
a corporate presentation, training video,
documentary, film, or broadcast commercial,
we take a narrative approach, and tell your story
in an innovative and imaginative way.
About The Producer
Michael Gelfand brings more than 10 years’ experience in
film and television production. He has worked as a producer,
writer and director in television, film, theatre and new media.
Before launching Look Ma Media in January 2005, Gelfand,
held the position of associate producer and producer with
Rogers Productions from 2000-2004. During his tenure
at Rogers, Gelfand was responsible for many large internal
and external projects, including Rogers produced commercials,
promotional videos, corporate videos and a series of interactive
educational CD ROM’s. His work as a producer won him a
Gold at The Aurora Awards, an internationally recognized film
and video competition for his work on the Media Awareness
Network public service announcement.
Following his work with Rogers Productions, Gelfand was
invited to attend The Canadian Film Centers prestigious
Film Resident Program where he honed his craft as a producer
working with some of Canada’s finest film makers. It was
during his time at The Canadian Film Centre that Gelfand
decided to launch Look Ma Media.
Founded on the principle
that everyone has a unique
story to tell, Gelfand has
positioned Look Ma Media
as a full service media
production company with
a keen interest in producing family
oriented programming. In creating
a name for the company, the phrase
Look Ma came to Gelfand as a way
of expressing one’s desire to discover
the world around them. From producing
high school musicals to community
theatre, to his recent role as producer
on the film Big Girl, which won the
Bravo! FACT Short Cuts Canada Award
at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival,
Gelfand maintains an enduring creative spirit
and a keen desire to produce innovative
and imaginative entertainment.
